Popularized in Japan, these soft and fluffy pancakesare totally doable at home!

2 eggs
1 pancake mix
1/2 cup water

What To Do:

  1. Separate egg yolks from egg whites.
  2. Combine water, egg yolks, and cooking oil in a bowl. Beat together.
  3. Gradually add pancake mix into the mixture.
  4. In a separate bowl, briskly beat white eggs with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form as though you’re making meringue.
  5. Fold in the meringue gradually into the pancake batter with a spatula.
  6. Prepare your pan and wipe over a small amount of cooking oil in the pan with a paper kitchen towel.
  7. Once hot enough, spoon in the batter and shape into your desired size.
  8. To bring moisture into the pan, add a small amount of water on the sides of the pancakes and cover the pan. When the bottom of the pancakes looks golden brown, carefully flip each piece. Again, put a small amount of water on the sides to induce moisture and cover the pan.
  9. Check the bottom of the pancakes. If they’re golden brown, take them out from the heat.
  10. Serve with fruit or ice cream on the side.

1 cup dark brown sugar or muscovado sugar
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons loose black tea leaves
1 cup fresh milk
Ice cubes

What To Do:

  1. Mix sugar and water in a pot and bring it to a boil. Let simmer until the syrup thickens.
  2. In a separate pot, prepare the milk tea. Combine milk and tea leaves and let it heat until the milk starts to steam. Take out from the fire and leave the mixture for 15 to 20 minutes to allow the tea leaves to steep before straining.
  3. Refrigerate milk tea to cool it up.
  4. To serve, pour the syrup into a glass followed by the milk tea and ice cubes. Mix well and enjoy!

Substitution Suggestions:
-No loose black tea leaves? Steep 4-8 black tea bags in warm milk, instead.
-For the sinkers, there are easy-to-prepare tapioca pearls available in the market, though you may also make use of canned grass jelly.
